One of my favorite books of all time is the book “The Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace Wattles.
In today’s post I want to just randomly pick a quote from the book and then share my perspective on what it means.
Here is the quote I picked randomly:
“Every thought of form, held in thinking Substance, causes the creation of the form, but always, or at least generally, along lines of growth and action already established.”
This is actually one of my favorite quotes from the book so I’m not surprised that I randomly turned to this page and this section. 🙂
What Wallace Wattles is basically saying here is that when we utilize the Law of Attraction to help us manifest what we want in life, the Universe – which he refers to as “thinking substance” – isn’t just going to materialize the thing that you want out of thin air and make it appear in front of you.
At least not usually.
In the majority of cases, when you want something to manifest in your life, the Universe will utilize already established processes, strategies and systems to help you manifest the thing that you want.
Meaning, for example if you wanted to manifest a new car, what the Universe will help you with is firstly making sure that the car that you want is manufactured, and shipped or somehow made available to you for purchase maybe at your local dealership… and secondly it may provide you with a means to earn some extra income in order to be able to afford this new car.
That is an example of an established “process” that already exists for getting a new car.
In this way we are all manifesting things all the time, and to us who are doing it, the process may seem “magical” in the way that things turn out, but for anyone else looking from an outside perspective there is usually nothing “magical” about the process.
I’ll offer an example from my personal life to illustrate how this works.
A few years ago I was doing research on a new type of fitness technology called a vibration plate.
It’s basically a system that allows you to work out and produce better results with strength training and building muscle in a shorter period of time by using vibration technology.
Without going into too much detail on it, essentially I learned that a good quality machine like this would cost me around $3,000 – $5,000.
I wanted one of these machines, so I utilized my understanding of the Law of Attraction to ask the Universe for it, but I had no idea how I would manifest the money to afford it.
A short while later I was at a fitness store picking up a few items, and I got talking to a clerk and I mentioned to him that I’m a Blogger.
He then told me that if I’m a Blogger I might be interested in a contest they were running at their store.
I asked him what kind of contest it was, and he told me it was a contest where you could win a $5,000 elliptical machine / fitness package!
This definitely peaked my interest and I asked him what I had to do in order to compete in this contest.
He told me the details and it didn’t seem very difficult at all. Â All I had to do was create a few blog posts and/or a video and enter it in.
When I got home that day, I went online to learn more about the contest I had entered, and I noticed that somehow from the time I left the store to the time I got home, the prize in this contest changed from an elliptical machine to a vibration plate machine!
Long story short, I ended up winning this $5,000 fitness package which included a vibration plate machine.
From MY perspective, I *KNOW* this was the Universe helping me to manifest what I wanted, but from anyone else “out there” looking in, if they hear the story from me, they just think “Oh, cool you won a prize…you’re lucky.”
Now, going back to the quote from The Science of Getting Rich… what Wallace Wattles is saying is that when you ask for something, it will come into your life through some methods that are already established (generally speaking), and in my case it came through the form of a contest.
It could have come in the form of me getting an extra $3,000 – $5,000 in income from somewhere so that I can just buy the machine, but in this case it came through this contest.
But even though it was a very magical way to me how this whole thing came about, the machine still didn’t just appear out of thin air and materialize in front of me.
What he is saying is that the things that you want WILL manifest in your life, but you have to participate in the process of getting them. Â Don’t just sit there on the couch waiting for the item to materialize out of thin air.
For me, the action steps required to get what I wanted required me to firstly GO to the fitness store and then to strike up a conversation with the clerk, and then when I was introduced to the contest I had to decide to participate in it instead of dismissing it and thinking “Oh I never win anything” like most people do.
If you haven’t read “The Science of Getting Rich” I highly recommend it.
