One of the biggest challenges that most MLM distributors run into is generating leads for their network marketing company.
Most MLMs recommend that you start with your warm market, but what do you do once you’ve worked through your warm market or if you don’t have a work market to work through?
Well, the only thing you CAN do is to learn how to generate MLM leads outside of your warm market.
Most network marketing companies offer some training in this arena, but for the most part their training is usually outdated and utilizes methods that used to work back in the 1990’s or early 2000’s, but that just don’t work any more today.
These companies bring on board MLM sales consultants who are professional speakers and who have built multi-million dollar downlines in the past, but the downlines they built were built 10-30 years ago – NOT TODAY!
For the most part, those consultants haven’t actually been in the field and done any prospecting or downline building for over a decade.
So while they have great intentions and there are certain things you can learn from their success, don’t expect to learn strategies that you can actually implement today without having to make a lot of adjustments to your approach.
Technologies like cell phones, text messaging, Skype, Facebook, Blogs, email, Twitter etc. have completely changed the landscape of how we communicate as a society.

MLM Secrets #4 – Understanding the Numbers Behind the Direct Selling Industry
Most network marketers who get involved in the MLM industry are not aware of the statistics behind our industry.
The Direct Selling Association publishes industry statistics which are updated every few years and reveal that the direct selling industry is growing at an incredibly fast pace.
Even in an economy that hasn’t been that great lately, the direct selling industry has continued to grow and thrive.
The direct to consumer model that has been the subject of controversy and ridicule by skeptics for years has continued to prove them wrong.
The MLM industry is here to stay, and it’s continuing to grow.
In 2013 alone, the direct selling industry in the United States alone was responsible for over $32,670,000,000 in sales!
That’s over 32 BILLION dollars in sales.
Worldwide, the industry statistics are even more staggering.
For example, here are the total sales figures for three well known industries that everyone knows produce HUGE sales numbers, and how they compare to the network marketing industry:
Total Global Sales for 2012:
- Music Industry – $16.5 Billion
- Video Gaming Industry – $67 Billion
- Movie Industry – $80 Billion
- Network Marketing – $167 Billion!!!
As you can see, in 2012 the network marketing industry has generated more sales than the music industry, video game industry and movie industry COMBINED!

MLM Secret #5 – How to Get Your Warm Market to Join Your MLM
Earlier in this article I mentioned that for the most part, going after you warm market can be a massive waste of time.
In most cases, if you apply the standard process of trying to pitch your warm market connections using old, antiquated MLM strategies from the 1990’s, you’re going to fall flat on your face and just face unnecessary rejection.
Worst yet, you’ll probably alienate and annoy your friends and family.
Who wants that? Right?
If you want to be successful in this industry you have to learn how to generate MLM leads outside of your warm market because sooner or later your warm market will run out.
Statistically speaking, if you have a warm market of approximately 300 contacts, you are only going to find ONE person who will be interested in joining your MLM.
That is the statistical probability based on actual industry numbers which show that only 0.3% of the US population are interested in joining the MLM industry.
But don’t let that number depress you!
It’s actually a very inspiring number if you understand it properly.
You see, 0.3% of the US population comes out to over 75,000 people PER MONTH joining the MLM industry.
That is a HUGE market size with plenty of room for you and everyone else to make your dreams come true.
However, to be able to properly REACH that market, you can’t just rely on outdated methods, and if there are people in your warm market who are interested in joining an MLM now or in the near future, you have to approach them properly.
