Yesterday I wrote a blog post where I shared the 5 simple rules I created for myself which have helped me to blog daily for over 6 months now.
Today I want to expand on this a little bit more and share another little secret strategy I’ve been using to develop my willpower to help me blog.
First of all, one of the most common mistakes that people make when it comes to willpower is that they don’t realize that willpower is a MENTAL MUSCLE, and as such it has to be treated like a muscle.
What happens when a person is hospitalized for a long period of time, such as if they go into a coma or are bedridden for a long period of time?
Their muscle waste away and they get weaker.
What happens when astronauts go out into space where they aren’t subject to the gravity field of earth as strongly as they are on earth?
Their muscles get weaker.
What happens when someone with weak muscles starts a strength training program with a personal trainer and sticks to it consistently for a long period of time?
They develop and grow their muscles and they get stronger.
Well, WILLPOWER works the same way.
So many people say “Oh I just don’t have the willpower to do that!” and they use that as an excuse not to do that thing, as if willpower was some kind of genetic thing you’re either born with or not.
Willpower is a mental muscle that you CAN develop if you choose to.
If someone says to me “I *want* to blog daily but I just don’t have the willpower” my first thought is “Of COURSE you don’t have the willpower to blog daily. DUH! If you did, you would be blogging daily!”
The question is not whether you have the willpower to blog daily or not, but rather “Are you willing to develop your willpower to the point where you are able to blog daily?”
If you are willing to develop your willpower I can help you do that by joining my Empower Network team now and getting mentored by me.
When I first started my fitness and diet plan about 10 weeks ago I didn’t have the willpower to workout 2-3 times per week.
If I had that willpower then I would already be working out!
Right?
So knowing that I didn’t have that willpower, and also knowing that I wanted to develop it, I started working with a personal trainer who has put together a whole exercise program for me and has been coming to my house every week to make sure I’m doing those workouts.
Because I was willing to make the decision to DEVELOP my strength training willpower by working with a trainer, I have now had 10 weeks of SOLID “willpower training” in the area of body fitness.
I’ve done more workouts both with my personal trainer and outside doing full body workouts by landscaping my yard in the last 10 weeks than probably in the last 4-5 years COMBINED!
If you want to build your willpower to blog on a regular basis or to start making money with an online business, you’ve got to start working with a coach / mentor who is going to HELP you develop the willpower that you need to develop.
What’s awesome about willpower too is that when you develop willpower in one area of your life, you actually start to have more willpower in ALL areas of your life.
For example, the willpower I developed over the last 6 months as a blogger, is helping me to develop my willpower to exercise on a regular basis.
Lately I’ve been doing some kind of full body workout – be it outside landscaping, or working out with my personal trainer – almost every single day!
In fact I’d have to check my calendar to see when was the last day that I didn’t get any exercise.
How did I go from living a sedentary lifestyle of always sitting in front of my computer for the last 4 years to now exercising almost every single day so quickly?
Well, I leveraged the willpower MENTAL MUSCLE I developed by blogging daily for the last 6 months and I combined it with a the right training and strategy from hiring a personal coach / mentor / trainer to help me!
If you want to develop your ability to blog and make money online, I recommend you do the same.
